I downloaded mgetty*sendfax-1.1.0 as well as the latest
stable version of hylafax. I compiled and installed
each but for some reason, sendpage will not come into
existence.

One problem, unfortunately, the sendfax source does not
come with a configure script so you have to manually
edit the Makefile. Now I am no expert so trying to
determine all that should be added or edited in the
Makefile is hell. What LDFLAGS should one running
a RH 5.1 system, kernel 2.0.35 enter, for instance.
There is no help in the Makefile comments nor in any
supplied readme file.

Next problem...hylafax APPEARED to compile and
install fine but when I try to run "faxsetup" as per
the instructions, it wont let me because it cannot
find the "sendpage" executable. Sendfax apparently
doesn't make one and there is a sendpage subdirectory
with the untar'd hylafax source but for some reason
it will not compile (I guess, since there is no
sendpage executable resulting from make and make install
for hylafax).

Has anyone in this list compiled and installed these
software packages? If so, what the hell is wrong with my
system? I cannot seen to find any nice, clear error message
during make that would indicate what the problem is.

I have pgcc for the i686 installed (I have a celery 300a).
