RH 5.1 on Dell XPS-R400: probs with IRQ sharing?

I've pretty much exhausted the idea of trying to figure this out myself. I
have a Dell Dimension XPS-R400 currently running NT that I'd like to set
up as a dual boot machine running RH 5.1. I have sucessfully installed
Linux, but when I start up using my boot floppy I end up with constantly
scrolling output (appears to happen after initialization of the NIC) and
never get to the login prompt. I believe this is due to an IRQ conflict
between my network/graphics/scsi cards. I have a 3C905 NIC, a Diamond
FireGL Pro (AGP) video card and an Adaptec 2940U scsi card. Under NT all
three of these cards are using IRQ 10 and everything seems to be working
fine. I assume in this case these devices are able to share this single
IRQ? So what do I need to do to make Linux happy? I have tried going in
to my bios and "reserving" IRQ 10, but then all the devices end up on
another unused IRQ but are all still on the same IRQ. How can I force them
to use unique IRQ's? I seem to have enough available IRQ's according to
NT's Diagnotics app? Or, are there any options I can pass along to the
kernel at boot time to resolve this conflict? I'd have to say this is the
most troublesome Linux install I've ever had to deal with...
Thanks for your help,
Scott
