Printing Problem

Anyone seen this printing problem: "lpr" won't print. Test page in RH
printtool prints. "lpc status" says no printer daemon running.
"ps" shows a printer dameon running. "lpq" shows an active job
for a few seconds when I try lpr. "lpc status" says queing and
printing enabled, but no daemon. "lpc start" says it starts a daemon,
but there is still exactly one lpd process that won't print with
lpr.
