Hi, just experimenting here. I'll probably be using tar or
(x)bru, they seem easier to understand.
But there's always dump :) so if there are people who know
more about it than I do, please feel free to respond..
At any rate, I did:
# dump 0f /dev/nst0 /
to start a level 0 dump of the root filesystem. That worked.
What happened next, though, when I went to back up /usr (by
far the largest, with about 1.3 megs or so allocated to it),
dump tells me two strange things:
First, it tells me that I'll need 39+ tapes (ouch!). This drive
does 2gig uncompressed, 4gig compressed, and I've got roughly
1.9 gigs here (1.6 meg HD + a 345 meg HD).
Second, it spurts out something about the master/slave protocol
botched, and aborts the dump. ???

David E. Fox Tax Thanks for letting me
dfox@belvdere.vip.best.com the change magnetic patterns
root@belvedere.sbay.org churches on your hard disk.
