I was at BTL in the very early '80s. We had a space crunch, and had to
use a pair of carpeted offices joined into a lab where we were building
the Field Test Set--Unix 3.0 (effectively System III) on a portable
8086. Well, portable in that it fit under an airline seat and booted
from floppy, although it *did* weigh about 45 lbs.

ANYWAY, the components were much more sensitive to static then, so some
bright guy thought of spraying Cling Free(Tm, I'm sure) everywhere and
on everyone. It worked--but *Gak.* I _still_, almost 20 years later,
gag at the scent of Cling-Free...12 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week...

Be careful what softener you use.
