CDROM error messages.

I recently got some CD's from lsl. One worked perfectly, another has what
seems to be a data error in some of the files, and whenever I try to
access them I get messages similar to the above (only /dev/hdc replaced).

I managed to salvage the situation without a reboot with, amazingly,

# while true; do
    killall -9 <process name>
    done

after a long time the process died and the messages stopped....
