Have no idea if this will help.

In order to get my PCI NE200-compat board to work I had to tell the
system it was an ISA board. Otherwise it would sometimes mount then go
away and sometimes it couldn't even be found. Since I've been using it
as ISA it's worked without so much as a hiccup.
