I still have 486 which runs fine. Good machine. If you are running at
800x600 in win95 but not in X, I'd suspect a problem in XF86Config. A
good way to debug it, is to remove all the comment lines, and all the
mode lines you aren't using.
as far as the cheapest prices:
Checkout http://www.pricewatch.com they list the lowest prices
available from various suppliers.
I've bought several things from http://www.compgeeks.com with no
problem. They often have good used and discontinued stuff at killer
prices.
