I see this all the time in computer "hostile" environs...
Since the fan is constantly moving air thru the computer's case, it
typically displaces the air in the entire room once or twice a day... acting
as a -very- expensive air ionizer/dryer.
On systems with side vent holes, I frequently tape up rear and forward
openings from the inside with masking tape. I then tape the same type of
foam used in drum humidifiers to the side vent hole rows.
This keeps the air moving in thru the now filtered holes, and out via the
power supply fan. The filters need to be cleaned once a week.
Best case you can use commercial quality shop enclosures w/rack mounts for
your computers, but this might be more than what you are looking for.
