The "best" choice I've found is:
/boot = 5meg
swap = 64meg (I've 64meg memmory)
/ = all the rest

Over time you can look at how big the various trees are and then
decide whats best for you. 

Also, what I find very useful is to have a minimum install of the
os on a seperate partition. That way I can boot into linux and
repair the main OS filesystem. The partition size is about 40 meg.
