(Sorry if you already saw this but I did not see it get posted the first
time.)

When I try to mount my CDROM drive I receive the following messages over
and over and have to ctrl-alt-del to shutdown and restart the system.

hdh: ststus timeout: status = 0xff
hdh: device not read for command

My CDROM is a SoundBlaster CR-574 that is connected to the IDE port on my
SB16 PnP sound
card. I have two harddisks on the primary controler and I can't get anyting
to work on the secondary so that's why it's on the soundcard.

The setup is as follows:

- Pentium 166
- 32M EDO RAM
- Win95 on 3.2G Western Digital set a primary
- Linux 5.1 on a Segate 2.1G set as slave
- Kernal version 2.0.34-0.6
- LILO on the MBR to boot to win95 or linux.
- SB 16 PnP sound card w/IDE cd-rom interface
  IRQ: 5 DMA's 1 and 5, IO address: 220h with a midi at 330h
- SB CR-574b IDE cdrom (4X)
  DOS settings: IRQ:10 Port: 168 Drive:0
Linux settings (I believe): ide3 at 0.168,0x36 on irq 10

Linux sees the CD-ROM as a Matshita ATAPI and ism set to /dev/hdh with a
symbolic link to /dev/cdrom. The mount point is /mnt/cdrom.

Now for a twist!

Last night I resinstalled Linux. After rebooting from the install process
I count mount the CDROM but when I went to umount the CDROM I received the
same errors as above. After that I count mount the CD either.

HELP!
