Can't help you with that part as I haven't messed with wine yet.

I can't recall the URL but if you do a search for "winehq wine linux"
you will get the url for the winehq page, the wine homesite. from this
site, your two remaining questions will be answered directly. From the
winehq site is a link to an application page listing what has been tested
and the results thus far. There is also information about helping out
the project.
