This problem occurs when the nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf is set
to your Linux box, but you're not running BIND or you don't have an
entry in your DNS (be it BIND or /etc/hosts) for your Windows PC.
Try either:
a) set the nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf to your Win PC
b) if your Win PC is for e.g. 192.168.0.1, then make a zone
in BIND called 0.168.192.in-addr.arpa and then an A record
for 192.168.0.1 (don't try this if you don't know DNS!)
c) try adding "192.168.0.1 foobar" to /etc/hosts
You just need your Linux box to be able to work out a name for your
Windows PC.
