Rsync and ssh. Works for me.
Ssh is at:
http://www.cs.hut.fi/ssh/
Rsync is at:
ftp://samba.anu.edu.au/pub/rsync/
I can give details on use if you want them.
I also use it to keep home and work in sync (eg my scripts dir, config files
etc).
