Okay... we tried this on a RH 5.1 machine and screwed it up.  We put the
append="mem=128M" in the wrong place, which caused lilo to hang on boot.

Easy, right?  Just get the rescue floppy... Well, someone overwrote the
rescue floppy, so we used the one from the distribution cd, which worked
fine, except:

When mounting /dev/hda5 (the / partition) /tmp_mnt/etc/lilo.conf and
/tmp_mnt/sbin/lilo don't even exist!  I've never been in this situation
before and am kind of confused.  Have we hosed thing up that well?

Anyone have any suggestions?
