Hello all,

I can now ping localhost (127.0.0.1) after I typed:

ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1
route add -host 127.0.0.1 lo

However, it still delays initialization of eth0. And doing:

ifconfig eth0 my.ip.addr netwmask 255.255.255.0 up
SIOCSIFADDR: Operation not supported by device
SIOCSIFNETMASK: Operation not supported by device

When I do a cfdisk /dev/hdb I get:

Name Flags	Part Type	FS Type Size (MB)
/dev/hdb5 Logical Linux Swap	125.02
/dev/hdb6	NC	Logical Linux 200.45

After reading the partition HOWTO I see that, with 32 MB of memory, my swap
partition should be 96 MB. It is not clear to me, however, how to resize
everything and get it to work:

Using top says that no Swap is being used.

I know this is a pair of questions. I've been on Linux only a week or so,
however, and I'm already thinking of reinstalling, except that LILO is too
smart to let my boot disk do an upgrade.

Pointers would be appreciated,

Thanks,
