I'd just like to add that I have been running linux here on an 8 meg
machine, was a 486sx33, and now a dx2/66 still with 8 meg.

While it's not the fastest thing around, it's a great use of old
hardware that just couldn't run the likes of NT. I'm running just
about everything on this machine and the only thing I can
categorically state is, hispeed comms on a 16450 is not the best,
I'm currently hunting down a 16550 or better for it though.

I'm running samba, I have 4*200 meg SCSI disks in RAID1, using it
as a print server, news and email are RSN. Sure it's a home LAN
and the load isn't great, but if not for linux the hardware would have
been chucked.
