Dear Sir / Madame ,
I am a newbie at linux . I am using redhat linux 5.0 on a intel pentium
machine . I seem to have a problem with the pppd which is of pppd 2.3.3 .
After I issue the ff command : modprobe ppp0
If I do : lsmod
It shows :
module pages
ppp 5
slhc 2
If I do dmesg , it shows :-
ppp version 2.2.0 (dynamic channnel allocation)
ppp dynamic channel allocation copyright caldera
ppp line discipline regs ........

So far so good . But when I use minicom , dial my isp and exit minicom
with alt -x-q and excute the ff script
which I have save as m.ppp

#/bin/sh
/usr/sbin/pppd -detach crtscts defaultroute /dev/ttys0 38000 &

it give the ff error message :-
this system lacks kernel support of ppp
.this could be because ppp kernel module is not loaded ,
or because kernel is not configured for ppp.

From a dialer with a win95 kind of interface , named XISP ,
in PATH TO :- it shows an error in the
Xisp utilites (xispdial & xispterm )
/usr/lib/ppp error

After I do connect it gives the ff message :-
pppd 2.3.3 started by root connection script failed , unknown reason

Please help me in solving the prob. Thanks in advance .
