Wait a second ?  A limit as to how many partitions that can 
be mounted ?  I don't think so.  I have 1 system here with 11
seperate partitions.  And that does not count the CD ROM or the 
floppy that I can also mount.

I have /, /home, /tmp, /usr, /usr/local,  and a /var as my standard
partitions on ALL systems that I use (the only difference is how 
large they get created).
