Thanks again, but still trying. I think I've tried all of the -options for
tar, it just doesn't read the partial file and prompt for the next disk. I
may give the concatenation a try as I'm running out of options, except to
buy SCO?

And the FilePro people said that it were genuine, continuous, multi-volume
tar archives, all of them created on SCO Xenix?
Have you tried this switch (though it's probably only for creation, I
haven't tried):
`--portability'
`--old-archive'
`-o'
Tells `tar' to create an archive that is compatible with Unix V7
`tar'. .
(I suppose you've read the info documentation by now?)
Another idea could be to copy the disks (probably with "dd") onto hard disk
and concatenating them - but that's really a shot in the dark now.
