Q. How do I log to someplace besides /var/log/messages?
A. Read the documentation! First get BIND-8 (no reason to use BIND-4).
Install it and read the documentation, especially:
http://www.isc.org/bind8/logging.html
You can log things out the wazoo with BIND-8 and you don't ever have to
touch syslog.conf.
I don't think the above web page is a secret either - go use it!
