Most (all?) recent Compaq network adapters are based on the Thunderlan chip
and are supported on 2.0.35. The driver module is tlan.o. YMMV, since
Compaq tends to upgrade those cards without notice and support, even on
Windows, may require getting new drivers from their Web server. Happened
to me...
Unfortunately, you will have to install from CD or a local disk, since
RedHat install disks do not have support for those cards :-( Then you'll
have to get an upgraded kernel RPM from updates (this one has support for
Thunderlan).
BTW, is there any step-by-step guide to creating RedHat install disks?
I tried to create installation disks including support for those cards and
failed, but it was never clear to me what I was doing wrong or whether I
had problems on the floppy drive...
