Thanks for the help from Jose M. Sanchez, Michael L. Semon and Ray Curtis,
I finally get my supra336i modem to work without rebooting the system.
It turns out to be a I/O address problem. I originally use 0x2f8 and
after I change to 0x2e8 the modem works great.
