lately - and I must admit it's true - although I find it a very practical
and confortable interface to use. I don't know if it belongs to your
possibilities to install & test another X-Window but if it does I think
XFCE is worth trying. I've been messing around with it for the last 2
months and found myself using it ever since. It loads fast, looks a bit
like CDE, runs kde applications (filemanager, kppp, etc) and doesn't use
up sys resources like KDE does.
The install files are either in source or binary form - I used the rpm
package - which installs in a flash, puts everything in the right place
and is ready for use.
I still have KDE installed and I put a script together to give me a choice
which interface to start. If somebody is interested I can send them the
scripts directly.
