Thanks you all for answering.
The premises are as follows:
Digital 3200 Server, 2xPII 266/128MB/2x4GB SCSI
There was no IDE on board and as I got some cheap 8GB IDE drive =
(backup), I added some older ISA IDE controller.
I couldn't have had it detected by the 'System Configuration Utility' =
(SCU) because SCU requires board info on 'manufacturer provided floppy'.
Fortunately Linux detects it just fine.
There is IDE support compiled into kernel. Even the ide spindown works =
flawlessly.
Of course it boots from SCSI.
Though the board interrupt is 14, at boot time Linux complains:

But all works just fine. Except for those messages (from time to time):
