Unless I'm mistaken, I believe the permissions of /tmp might also
be 1777.
On my computer, I've been running pine 4.02A and then pine 4.05
with 1777 permissions on /var/spool/mail with the only problem
being that sometimes the owner of the "sent-mail" file in the
user's mail directory becomes root...
