xmplay and xanim not working in RH 4.0

I just tried to use xmplay and xanim which are included in RH 4.0.
xmplay just core dumps if I try to play an mpeg file.
On my old slackware I had mpeg_play installed which
worked flawlessly. (I use the XFree 3.1.2 S3 server).
xanim doesn't recognizes the format of the .mov and .avi files
I have. Again, the version I had installed previously worked
for these files.
Fortunately, I have a backup of my old system to grab the binaries from :-)
