No promises, but you might want to install the updated gpm rpm from the 
General Errata web page.  It would help if you mentioned what kind of 
mouse (bus vs psaux) you have.

As for the RH staff being hard to find, I think they're working on a 
serious case of burnout.  They've been generating fixes at an amazing 
rate.  I'm not defending them -- it's not my place, and they don't need 
my $0.02.  But if I knew what brands of antacid and caffiene they use, 
I'd be calling my broker. :)
