Hi all:

I installed 4.0 from scratch and then copied some /etc config files from
old 3.0.3, such as bashrc, profile, hosts, resolve, ppp-off, ppp-on , etc.

But the ease of redhat 3.0.3 is gone in 4.0, and it seems that no one can
help me to solve the problems.

First, passwd is not working for non-root users, I tried to change
passwd group to root.root and setuid root, no luck.
(/usr/bin/passwd root root rswr-xr-x )

Second , I found that screen is not working for non-root users today.

third , netscape 3.0 gold is crashy with java, I know it is because libc
is too new.

If I can choose, I would rather go back to 3.0.3, however, old 3.0.3 rpms
are not available from ftp sites now, no choice. I can not go back because
I deleted old packages. My machine was working perfectly in 3.0.3.

Please I would like to know whether bugginess
is only for me or ther are others unlucky guys like me?

By the way, I have upgraded all the 4.0 erreta from redhat http site,
including screen, pam, perl, and even kernel, and many more that I can
not remember.

When I first installed 3.0.3 2 months ago there was not many trouble
like
today.

A unhappy redhat user.
