This is in regard to the "aic7xxx !johnsonm!" thread...
I have purchased (waiting for it to arrive :() RedHat 4.0. Since I was
hoping things had been fixed since Rembrandt regarding the Adaptec
support, I decided to try and use a boot disk to see what would happen.
Well, it doesn't work. I tried the 2 images Michael made avilable to no
avail.
486DX33
20M RAM
Adaptec 1742 (EISA, SCSI II)
Micropolis 3221 (2.1G)
I select 1742 support. I switch to one of the VCs (I forget which one)
and there are NO devices seen on the controller. When I boot, I see the
CDROM and disk drive... The only two devices I had left on the controller.
I tried to use the PAS16 support (SCSI) and just the hard drive on the
1742, but that doesn't work...
I have cc'ed this to support prematurely. Since my *offical* version is
not here, I don't have a registration number... However, I KNOW the CD
will arrive on Saturday and I won't get a response till Monday or Tuesday
(which is REASONABLE), but I had a hard drive crash and have been without
linux and internet at home for over a week now, and will be over 2 by
time I get help if I wait for the official registration number...
<< WHINING OFF >>
Since I had a hard drive crash, I can't build my own kernel (like I did
with Rembrandt). And I can't find the Rembrandt disk :(
THANKS for any help.
