RedHat 4 has suffered from too much broken RPMS. You can download a
corrected one but some of them like the TeX stuff are prety big and
downloading them is expensive (at least here in Europe where local
phone calls are not cheap).
There are cases where the reason the RPM is being upgraded is not a
bug or a new version but a mistake from RedHat in building the package
(like in the ghostscript fonts issue).
At least in these cases I would like to have the possibility to
download a file consisting of a patch and a spec file. This
file would be very small
The user does an rpm -i Original_SRPM_from_CD. He adds the patch in
the SOURCES directory, overwrites the old spec file with the new one
and then rebuilds the package with rpm -ba
I think this is better than spending hours downloading the 11 Megs of
TeX.
THis packages could be "use at your own risk". If it does not
work the user can still use the normal SRPM or RPM.
