After my earlier question "dip gives hostname lookup failure", I made
progress, and got my machine to call my provider. From that point on
I remain stuck: I cannot even locate my provider when doing an nslookup.
A dip session I logged:
YourCONNECTED to hgatenl.hobby.nl with address 193.78.42.1
DIP: cannot create /etc/dip.pid: Permission denied
$ nslookup
*** Can't find server name for address 193.78.42.1: No response from server
*** Default servers are not available
$ /usr/sbin/dip -k
DIP: Dialup IP Protocol Driver version 3.3.7o-uri (8 Feb 96)

Questions:
- what is wrong in my config files that I cannot access my name-
server any more?
- how to allow it to create /etc/dip.pid
my config files: (nameserver hgatenl.hobby.nl, my machine
kennis.hobby.nl)
/etc/resolv.conf
domain hobby.nl
search kennis.hobby.nl hobby.nl
nameserver 193.78.42.1
/etc/sysconfig/network
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=kennis
GATEWAYDEV=sl0
GATEWAY=hgatenl.hobby.nl
/etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 kennis.hobby.nl kennis
193.78.42.1 hgatenl.hobby.nl hgatenl
