I'm having a little trouble configuring my network satisfactorily. Maybe
I don't understand the basic concepts.
Here's the setup: SCO box ethernetworked to RedHat box, RedHat box
linked to ISP via dialup ppp. I've got my own static IP & domain name on
the internet.
Here's the problem. If I mail out from my RedHat box, the mail from
address reads username@nameofRedHatbox. So I need to set the host name
of the RedHat box to my internet domain name. Trouble is, SCO box wants
a simple name to talk to. Can I finesse this with aliases in /etc/hosts
on the RedHat box?
Also, my ISP-assigned userid begins with a capital letter, but SCO
OpenServer will not accpt userids that begin with capital letters. Is
there any way I can finesse this from the Linux side?
