I almost burned my house down with a used laptop. It came without batteries.
I bought batteries--the right kind, I'm pretty sure--and put them in. The
computer charged them--and charged them--and charged them--until the
batteries were all bent out of shape, the plastic case of the laptop partly
melted, and the keyboard contacts adversely affected. There was something
ferkokt in the charging circuit, obviously. What really p'd me off was that
the guy who sold me the bomb certainly knew this, but did not tell me. He
could easily have killed me. Caveat emptor! And good luck.... --doug
