Help with kerneld(Please help)

Hi, I jut recently upgraded from kernel 2.0.18 to kernel 2.1.12, but I
have a huge problem all of the .o files won't be loaded by kerneld. I
followed all the instructions on www.escnet.com. I upgraded libc, ld.so,
libg++, and so on. I enabled all the CONFIG_MODULEVERSION, CONFIG_MODULE,
and others. I type the following make menuconfig, make dep, make, make
modules, make modules_install, and then cp arch/i386/boot/zImage
/boot/ZImage-2.1.12 and then editted /etc/lilo.conf, and then lilo.
However when it tries to start it says unrecongnized symbols. Everything
all whole bunch of undefined symbols.
seems to be fine Here is what 'ls -al /lib/modules'
total 4

drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 1024 Nov 22 10:27 ..
drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 1024 Sep 10 09:44 2.0.18

Here is /etc/conf.modules:
alias net-pf-3 off
alias net-pf-4 off
alias net-pf-5 off
alias eth0 tulip
I couldn't find the enable tulip driver in make config
so I copied it over from 2.0.18. (I don't think this step is correct)
