Is that really true?  If so, it's not SMP at all.  SMP stands for
*Symmetric* multiprocessing, which means each CPU can execute any process,
even in kernel mode.

On the DECsystem-10, they switched from asymmetric to symmetric
multiprocessing in the early 80s, and it really made a big difference.
Of course, converting a single processor kernel to SMP is more work than
making it support AMP.
