I've got to put my two cents in here about Red Hat support. I have never
had to deal with it, but I know that RH is doing as well as they can.
Remember how not too long ago they were looking for support people,
advertising on the list, web page, and so on (probably in local papers,
too). Did they ever find anyone? Not that I know of. Being understaffed
doesn't help matters. And they don't have that much money- the cost of
manufacturing CD's or documentation may not be high, but maintaining the
distribution, keeping up with bug fixes, testing compatibility, and so on
costs a lot, as does their internet connection (which is finally not too
terribly slow). And this isn't Microsoft, either- not too many people
install Linux at all, and those that do could install from Slackware,
Debian, Yggdrasil, or Caldera, or (like myself) simply download the
software from the Internet. I somehow doubt there's all that much else
they can do.
