Thanks for anyone who gave me help. I'm now able to get Linux recognize
my Adaptec 1542CF. The problem was the kernel (2.0.18) that came with
RH 4.0. I downloaded and compiled the latest 2.0.26 kernel and the new
kernel is able to autodetect my SCSI controller.
For those have 1542CF and are using ports other than 0x330 and 0x334,
you should get the latest linux kernel. I've an impression that 2.0.18
is ONLY able to autoprobe 0x330 and 0x334 (I'm using 0x130).
