You know, sometimes things don't work out and it pays to just get a different
adapter.
If you're the guy that already has x machines with this adapter then my
comment is little help. If not, and you are in a position to choose,
then by all means please explore alternative hardware.
Also, did I get the impression you're doing the RG58 coax type thing rather
than Twisted Pair with a hub ? Coax CAN BE particularly sensitive to a
number of things, 1) wear and tear on the connections (causing who knows
what kind of errors) 2) Static 3) Interference from overhead lights.
Also you're looking at about 600 feet distance limit.
I would definitely try if not different adapters, then other ones of the
same kind known to be working properly. ( You might have zapped it )
I've gone down this road before only to find it was a bad NIC. I
hate that, since they're only $35 or so.
