I like it.
I would go with whatever your standard network card is although I
have an affinity for 3COM 3C509 style.
As much as it has been a pain in the butt, my Adaptec 2940 simply smokes,
I use 7200rpm SCSI drives, which helps too.
I'm using the Cyrix 166. So far it smokes too. No hiccups, and it is
much cheaper than the Intel. Pentium pro is amazingly expensive.
I like the BIG Power Supply, that always seems to help.
Did you forget tape backup system and uninterruptible power supply ?
And there's 33.6Kbps modems now. Smartlink ? I've not owned one, however,
so don't take this as too serious of a recommendation.
I don't know about booting from CD-ROM, Never heard of Mr. Bios. Hmn...,
and I hate Plug 'n Pain adapters.
Oh ! External Modems are always better...
You'd be stretching the cooling capacity (MAYBE) with the IDE and the
SCSI if it is a 7200rpm one, so you might consider one or more additional
cooling fans for about $25 each. (You've got the power supply to spare...)
Need speed ? I'd like to know people who've done the Alpha thing...
