I am trying to install RH 4.0 onto a machine that doesn't have a CDROM
drive. I guess I have a couple questions:
1. Has the ability to perform a diskette installation been completely
removed. I assume it has, but just wanted to make sure. In the past it was
easier to install just the components that I needed instead of resorting to
a network based install.
2. I have tried to mount the RH 4.0 cdrom on another RH Linux box (happens
to be a 3.03 box) under /home/ftp/pub/colgate. Then I start the install
process initiating an FTP Install. It seems to work until I get to the
creating EXT2 Filesystem part and it then comes back with a mount failed:
before it starts copying any files. The strange thing is that it was a
perfectly fine working 3.03 installation. I have repartitioned it several
times but to no avail. Has anybody else been able to install this way?
I can tell by the logs that it is logging in ok and it is letting me select
the packages that I want...
Btw, I couldn't find anything in the archives about this.
Thanks
David Mintz
