Greetings. Sorry if a post got out from my root account--I just wasn't
thinking. Here's a brief repost as myself.
I got through the install with no problems (thanks, Michael, for taking
care of the Advansys problem--you are a saint), but after installing LILO
to my first HD, booting gave me:
L 01 01 01 01 ... ad infinitum, forcing a reboot.
The lilo command gave several messages like "/dev/hdc is set up
improperly--run MAKEDEV.ide" (not the exact message, but I could pull it
up if necessary). I ran the script, and it didn't help--LILO crashes on
boot every time. /dev/hdc is my CD-ROM drive. I installed via FTP.
I had LILO 17 running on my system for months without a problem. The
differences now are that Linux is on my new SCSI drive and RH4.0 uses LILO
19. Help would be very much appreciated.
Booting off a LILOed diskette and specifying root=/dev/sda1 works fine.
Thanks,
Matthew
