Looking in /var/log/messages I find that when I try
[hartr@archenland hartr]$ smbmount //hwin/hartr /home/staff/hartr/hwin
Password:
mount error: Invalid argument
Maybe you should try to type the username and
password in UPPERCASE.

I get the following in /var/log/messages which may help me sort out what I
am doing wrong...

Nov 22 10:17:50 archenland kernel: smb_read_super: Failed connection,
bailing out (error = 13).
Nov 22 10:17:50 archenland kernel: smb_dont_catch_keepalive:
server->data_ready == NULL
