 Hello!
I have a problem with linux finding my new ethernet card. I
have bought
new NE2000 compatible card, recompiled my kernel with support for it
but
when I boot the computer it does not work. If I specify the parameters
(irq and I/O address) at boot prompt it seem to find it, and does not
give me any error messages, but still does not start network. When I
run
/sbin/ifconfig it does not show me the information about it. I found a
utility for testing the card online (ne2k) and it tests the card and
says that the card passes all the tests. However I still can not start
network. When I try to start it by ifup ifconfig-eth1 it says
 Delaying eth1 initialization.
BTW, I am using Redhat 4.0 and if I try to imitate instalation
from
NFS, instalation program finds the card. But in that case I specify
what
kind of card I have, while in case of usual bootup I do not.

Thank you very much in advance.
         Gregory.
