Hmmm - well after re-reading the smbclient man pages a few tines I find
that I need to do
smbclient '\\hwin\hartr'
and that gets me in...with my password in the mix I type it in when I log
into NT. There's no mention of the quotemarks in the smbclient man page,
but when it started complaining about not enough '\' I realised what was
happening!
However, I am now totally confused as to how I should specify this to
smbmount.
On my NT server (hwin), the directory I am trying to access is
d:\users\hartr
and smbclient -L shows me
Server=[HWIN] User=[] Workgroup=[WORKGROUP] Domain=[]
Sharename Type Comment

ADMIN$ Disk Remote Admin
C$ Disk Default share
D$ Disk Default share
hartr Disk HWIN DISK area - Robert Hart

I have tried
[hartr@archenland hartr]$ smbmount //hwin/hartr hwin
Password:
mount error: Invalid argument
Maybe you should try to type the username and
password in UPPERCASE.
and
You have new mail in /var/spool/mail/hartr
[hartr@archenland hartr]$ smbmount //hwin/d/users/hartr hwin
Password:
