New instaltion problem with LILO

I recnetly did a new instalation of Redhat Linux v4.0 via FTP after the
download completed and I provided the remainder of the information it
needed to complete the intsall (ie admin pw, etc) it prompted me where I
wanted to install LILO I pinted it at sda1 and said Okay, it then returned
the error "an error ocured while installing LILO" and asked me if I wanted
to reboot, I did and when it rebooted I got the "hey, this isnt bootable"
error (since it couldnt install lilo).
How do I install lilo manualy either onto floppy or hd.
SYSTEM CONFIG:
DEL PowerEdge 466SE
16MB RAM
Buslogic SCSI
1GB SCSI (800 Linux native, 150 Linux SWAP)
Two NE2000's
ASCEND Pipeline 50
Any help you could offer would be appriciated.
