Redhat 4.0 Printing and fvwm problems

Hi,
Two problems:
1) I just installed RedHat 4.0 from scratch(not an upgrade.) I saved a
copy of my working XF86Config file from my old Redhat 3.0.3 setup, and
copied it to the new installation. I did this because I didn't want to go
through the XFree setup process again.
The problem, when I type "startx", XFree loads OK, but the window manager
does not get run. Do I need to manually copy any files to my home
directory? I assumed there was a default setup("TheNextLevel"?)
2) I am trying to get my printer (Deskjet 520) setup. Using the
control-panel, I entered all the same info I did when I used the same
printer under RH3.0.3. Everything goes OK, but nothing gets printed. If I
do a "lpq" I see that the jobs are getting spooled, but it says "warning:
no daemon running." Something is preventing the daemon from running, or is
killing it as soon as it starts. I am assuming the problem is due to the
modularized nature of the kernel. Do I need to set up some parameters for
kerneld? The printer is on the first parallel printer port (lpt1 under
DOS).
