I have a small problem.
My video card is based on a SiS 86c201 pci chip set and up until today, I
have not been able to run X. I just downloaded the XFree86 3.2 release
which finally supports my video card. Everything seems to work great,
with one exception. Glint causes my system to DIE!!! And I mean die.
Locked hard. No CTRL-ALT-DEL, not telnet in from my notebook pc, just
hit the reset button, and wait for my disks to check when it reboots.
I have been running my system without X since several days after RedHat
released version 4 on the net. The thing was ROCK SOLID. The other gui
admin utils work fine, just Glint dies.
My system is an AMD 486 133. I have 28mb RAM. I have 2 IDE disks and 1
scsi disk on an aha2940 pci host. I have dos on the first ide, linux on
the scsi disk, and home/swap on the second ide. IDE cdrom on a secondary
motherboard controller.
The new X server seems to work just fine, only Glint kills it. I have X
running on another pc, so I know what to expect, how to configure things,
etc. (I think :-) )
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
