Hi all,

Yes, I bought a 2940AU adapter. No, RH4.0 won't recognize it. Evidently it's
because the adapter uses a different chip set based on the 7861 which came
after the latest aic7xxx driver. I verified this by downloading and booting
from a _slackware_ image built with a pci.h which had code which would
recognize this card. It was the only one I could find after many hours of
searching. The date this image was created was the 27th of September.

Needless to say, I'm really bummed about this. I expected RH would have had
this latest code in this distribution.

So, my question is, how does one install 4.0 on a machine that can't use it's
hard drives? I suspect one solution is to make a new boot floppy with a
working kernel. However, I'm interested to find out if others had this same
problem (misery likes company) and what was done to fix it.

TIA
