Well, thank you for that. All sorted now.
However, if the question is frequently asked, how come it isn't on any
FAQs or HOWTOs anywhere? And I searched the archive for this list and
the rpm list (keywords "rpm" and "upgrade" on all months, followed by
vgrep for the right thing), and while the question got asked (once),
it never got answered.
So, I don't appreciate your tone. I like to think I am generally
reasonably enlightened (I could answer about half the questions on
this list today, anyway) despite only having been using Linux for 3
months, though clearly there will be gaps in my knowledge. I do try to
find answers before asking questions, and am not in the habit of
asking FAQs. If you don't want to answer a question, you don't have
to; there's no call for answering without good grace.
